About Sophie
Sophie Gilbert is a Scottish based jazz vocalist currently in her 4th year of study at the Royal Birmingham Conservatoire. Sophie enjoys exploring a variety of genres in her performances and has been gigging throughout Scotland and the West Midlands for the past 5 years.
With a deep love of jazz, folk and classic singer/songwriter style music Sophie enjoys blending her experience in the jazz scene with a range of genres and experimenting with her unique sound.
Sophie performs in a variety of ensembles as a bandleader and a sideman, and has experience in small and large jazz ensembles,big bands,vocal ensembles and Afro Cuban orchestras.
Recently Sophie has launched an exciting new project- Sophie Gilbert with Strings. A collective jazz/folk trio and string quartet playing her original music, folk tunes and music from artists such as Joni Mitchell and Paul Simon.She is working towards their debut gig and album release.

Compostion and Arranging
Sophie has a deep love for writing music and is experienced in writing and arranging for a variety of ensembles, including jazz quartet, large ensembles, string quartets and vocal groups.
Sophie is available for instrumental and songwriting commission and tuition in a variety of styles and will work with you to provide exactly what you are looking for and bring your musical ideas and requests to life.
